England T20I Squad: Heather Knight (capt), Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Kate Cross, Freya Davies, Charlie Dean, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Danielle Gibson, Sarah Glenn, Amy Jones (wk), Nat Sciver-Brunt, Issy Wong, Lauren Winfield-Hill, Danielle Wyatt
In a recent update, England has included Danielle Gibson and Issy Wong in their T20I squad for the ongoing Women's Ashes series. Gibson, an uncapped all-rounder, impressed at the regional level and has finally earned her first T20I call-up. Wong, a quick bowler, has been recalled after missing out on the Test match.
Gibson was initially part of the squad for the Trent Bridge Test, which Australia won, but she didn't make it to the playing XI. Wong's inclusion comes as England aims to win five out of the remaining six matches to secure the Ashes.
The T20I squad also features players who represented England in the T20 World Cup earlier this year, including Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Freya Davies, Charlie Dean, Sarah Glenn, and Lauren Winfield-Hill. Tammy Beaumont, who performed exceptionally in the Test, was not selected for the T20 format.
England's head coach, Jon Lewis, expressed his enthusiasm for the selected players and acknowledged their performances at various levels. He highlighted Gibson's potential impact and Wong's growth after her stint with the Mumbai Indians in the Women's Premier League.
The upcoming T20Is will be held at Edgbaston, The Oval, and Lord's. Australia currently leads the Ashes series by four points after their Test victory, needing just two more wins to retain the trophy.
In parallel news, England Women A announced their squad for the opening 50-over match against Australia Women A. Grace Scrivens, who led England's Under-19s in the recent T20 World Cup, will captain the A side.
The Women's Ashes series continues to generate excitement as England aims to reclaim the prestigious trophy after eight years
