On Pujara

Sunil Gavaskar said, "why is Cheteshwar Pujara made the scapegoat when the entire batting unit failed? Because he doesn't have millions of followers on whatever platform to raise noise when he gets dropped". (On India Today).

 On Sarafaraz khan 

Gavaskar has suggested that if the selectors fail to recognize the efforts of players like Sarfaraz Khan, then there is no point in continuing with the Ranji Trophy. He argues that players might think playing in the IPL alone is enough to prove their worth in the longer format of the game.

For those who may not know about Sarfaraz Khan's accomplishments, he performed exceptionally well in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy. In just six matches, he scored an impressive total of 556 runs with an average of 92.66, including three centuries. In the previous season, he scored 982 runs at an outstanding average of 122.75, with four centuries.

On Rahane selected as Vc

He said: 

“There is nothing wrong in having him [Ajinkya Rahane] as the vice-captain, but a missed opportunity to groom a young player. At least, tell a young player that we are looking at you as a future captain. So, he starts to think as a future leader.” ( India Today)
