WI struggles in World Cup Qualifier
Match Blog:
WI VS SCOTLANDScotland won first time against West Indies in ODI and for West Indies it 3rd loose in Qualifier
It has been a disappointing campaign so far for the West Indies in the World Cup Qualifier. Having lost their previous two matches against Zimbabwe and the Netherlands, they were hoping to turn their fortunes around against Scotland. However, their batting unit failed to deliver once again.
In this crucial match against Scotland, the West Indies batters struggled against the Scottish bowling attack. They were bowled out for a modest total of 181 runs in 44 overs in the ODI match. Jason Holder emerged as the highest scorer for the West Indies with 45 runs, while Romario Shepherd contributed 36 runs. Unfortunately, two of their batters went for ducks, and captain Shai Hope could only manage 13 runs.
The Scotland bowlers did an exceptional job, putting the West Indies under pressure and not allowing them to build substantial partnerships. The West Indies' batting collapse is a significant setback for them, considering they needed a good total to stay in contention for the Qualifier.
The West Indies did get off to a promising start in the run chase, with Jason Holder dismissing Scotland opener Christopher McBride for a duck. However, after that initial breakthrough, the West Indies failed to take wickets and struggled to contain the Scottish batsmen. Matthew Cross and Brandon McMullen both scored half-centuries, with McMullen being dismissed on 69 runs.
Well Matthew cross 70 not out in run chase
As I write this match blog, Scotland needs only 20 runs to win in 65 balls. It's a tough situation for the West Indies, and their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup are hanging by a thread. They desperately need to break this partnership and put pressure on the Scottish batsmen to have any chance of a comeback in this match.
