Day 1 Match Blog:
The second match of the Duleep Trophy commenced with Central Zone winning the toss and opting to bat first. However, their batting lineup faced a stern test against East Zone's formidable bowling attack. Vivek Singh and Himanshu Mantri opened the innings, but the early breakthrough came as Murasingh dismissed Vivek Singh for 21 runs.
Himanshu Mantri and Kunal Chandela tried to stabilize the innings, but Mantri fell victim to a run-out by A. Easwaran after contributing 29 runs. Chandela followed soon after, being trapped lbw by Ishan Porel for 13 runs. Shubhman Sharma and Rinku Singh also couldn't find their footing and were dismissed by S. Ahmed, contributing 13 and 38 runs, respectively.
Upendra Yadav and Sarash Jain couldn't make significant contributions as Murasingh claimed their wickets. Shivam Mavi fought valiantly with an unbeaten 16 runs, but Central Zone's batting eventually faltered, with Avesh Khan being the last man dismissed for 10 runs. They were all out for 182 runs.
Murasingh shone with the ball for East Zone, taking an impressive five-wicket haul. S. Ahmed contributed with two wickets, while Ishan Porel and S. Nadeem claimed one wicket each.
In response, East Zone began their innings cautiously, with Shantanu Mishra and A. Easwaran at the crease. However, Avesh Khan proved to be a thorn in East Zone's side, dismissing both openers for low scores. Mishra was lbw for 6 runs, while Easwaran fell for a duck, also lbw.
S.K. Gharami and S. Nadeem are currently at the crease, providing stability to the innings. At the end of the first day's play, East Zone stands at 32/2, trailing Central Zone by 150 runs.
